Amara grew up between Lagos and London, and began her career in the public sector, working on housing delivery and town-centre regeneration. She joined NORR ATELIER in 2016 to build an urban practice alongside the buildings, and became a partner in 2019.
Her work asks how architecture can be generous at the scale of the street: where people sit, how they cross, where the shade is, who is welcome. She leads our masterplanning and public-realm projects, and the research that underpins them.
She writes and teaches on climate adaptation in Northern European towns, and is a frequent — and frank — voice at planning committees. She walks everywhere, and notices everything.

The street is the most democratic room in the city. It should be designed with the same care as any interior.amara@norr-atelier.com

Three projects shaped by Amara's urban thinking — a fjord-side pavilion, a Copenhagen atrium and a Mallorcan house in its landscape.
